Finding pickleball games in the Philadelphia area isn’t hard. But where do you go when you’d prefer to play indoors?

Whether you’ve played on indoor pickleball courts before or you’re completely new to the concept of bringing the sport inside, this is for you. Keep reading to discover some of the best indoor pickleball spots in Philly.

Pickleball is one of the best sports because you can play it anytime, anywhere. Whether you prefer to play indoors or outdoors, the beauty of it is that you can find permanent pickleball courts or create your own temporary setup.

Even if you’d rather play outdoors (we get it), there are plenty of reasons to give indoor pickleball a try:

• Unlimited play: The game goes on even in unpredictable weather conditions.
• A different feel: Indoor pickleballs are made of lighter and softer material with larger holes. Some players prefer the bounce, accuracy, and different speed of an indoor court.
• Drill practice: Honing your pickleball drills indoors is more accessible in some seasons, and allows for quieter practice. You can even use foam pickleballs on indoor courts to level up your skills.

Best Indoor Pickleball Courts in Philly 

Unlike outdoor courts, playing pickleball indoors isn’t always as easy as walking to a park and starting a pickup game with a stranger. Our advice: plan ahead and bring a friend.

Heyday Athletic 

If you want to join an indoor pickleball league, Heyday Athletic is one of the most well-known sports organizations in Philly. They recently added an indoor pickleball league for adults. Make sure you get on the list if you’re interested.

As of September 2022, Heyday began an indoor pickup pickleball schedule. Visit their website to learn all the details and sign up!

Christian Street YMCA Open Gym

The Christian Street YMCA sets up temporary nets for indoor pickleball in their open gym. The schedule varies, but courts are open. Remember that courts are assigned on a first-come, first-serve basis. 

Phield House Indoor Sports Facility

Phield House hosts multiple leagues and reservation sessions completely indoors. In addition to its large basketball, baseball, and volleyball crowd, Philed House is open to working with you on an upcoming pickleball league. Call to ask about their court options for setting up pickleball games.

The Philadelphia Cricket Club

The Philadelphia Cricket Club offers pickleball and other indoor racket sports to its members. If you’re already part of this cricket community, you can reserve a time or set up private lessons. Call one of the three locations near Philadelphia to learn more.

The Sporting Club at the Bellevue

The Sporting Club at the Bellevue is a private club that offers indoor pickleball every day of the week. It recently closed temporarily but as of this summer, you can join the new Membership Center. Visit their site or contact them to learn more.

Northeast Racquet Club Pickleball

The Northeast Racquet Club offers multiple indoor pickleball clinics and open play events throughout the week. If you want to practice some drills and then enjoy a fun game, this is a great place to go. Indoor sessions are up to $10 for two hours. They also take reservations.

Roxborough YMCA Pickleball

The YMCA in Roxborough, Philadelphia hosts open indoor pickleball on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays (as of October 2022). Check the online schedule and bring your own equipment. To ensure your spot, call ahead and show up early.

For anyone willing to take a short drive to enjoy some indoor pickleball, here are a few options right outside the Greater Philly area.

Green Valley Pickleball 1 Open Play

The Green Valley Pickleball Meetup Group schedules open play sessions up to four hours long. They welcome all levels and all people who want to play pickleball in the Greater Philadelphia area. Reach out to the group to learn more about their lessons, tournaments, and more.

Cherry Hill Pickleball Meetup

Another Meetup group organizes indoor pickleball at the Cherry Hill Health & Racquet Club in Cherry Hill, NJ. They welcome all levels for open play and also provide clinics. Reach out to the organizers on Meetup.com to RSVP or learn more.

Pennsbury Indoor Pickleball Meetup

If you’re ever southwest of Philly, there’s a group that gathers for regular indoor pickleball games. For a small donation, you and your friends can play two hours of indoor tournaments. The Pennsbury Indoor Pickleball Meetup holds events on weekend mornings and afternoons. Note the playing levels on each upcoming event before you RSVP.

Mercer Bucks Pickleball Club
